State Conference

The annual Illinois CASA State Conference is a daylong event that presents leading experts in Child Welfare and Advocacy. Join the Illinois network of CASA stakeholders (Volunteers, Directors, Staff Members and Board Members), attorneys, service providers, foster parents, and other professionals who work together to serve the best interests of abused and neglected children.

Last year's Illinois CASA State Conference was held at the Pair-A-Dice Hotel & Casino in Peoria, IL. Nine of our advocates attended along with LaSalle County's Guardian Ad Litum, James Reilly. Our advocates and staff attended the keynote session with Victor Veith, Founder and Senior Director of Gunderson National Child Protection Training Center. He spoke about the impact of trauma on child development and courtroom advocacy in abuse and neglect cases. Advocates and staff were then given the choice of participating in several breakout sessions that included topics such as specialized services for older youth, an overview of abuse and neglect court in Illinois, DCFS policy and procedure, social and emotional learning, special education, kinship care, trauma informed practices for professionals, and a panel discussion with foster care alumni.

The 2017 Illinois CASA State Conference will also take place at the Pair-A-Dice Hotel & Casino in Peoria, IL on June 9th.
